My family and I went to visit SIL (sister-in-law) a couple of weeks back and along the way we decided to have lunch over at The Kanin Club (Laguna Branch). My eldest son and I wanted to try their Crispy Dinuguan (Their most copied signature dish! Pork heavenly deep-fried to a crisp then set in a semi-dry stew of pork blood. Proven to have convinced non-dinuguan eaters to like the dish {{source}}).

We both loved the crispy dinuguan! Not really a healthy dish, but I believe it wouldn't hurt as long as you eat in moderation. :P

I also liked their turon (Their original. An updated version of your lola's turon: bananas, purple yam jam, sweet coconut strips and monggo beans, wrapped and deep-fried in a rice paper roll. Like a halo-halo in a roll. {{source}}), which was a surprise. I mean, I wouldn't have thought of adding monggo beans to my turon! :)

Oh yeah, we'll be back. :D

This week am posting something that my sons and I had at Burgoo, a couple of days ago.

Normally, I'd get their Linguini with Clams, but I wasn't really hungry that day. Decided to order the margarita and cheesecake for myself, instead. The cheesecake was meant for sharing, but I still managed to finish it. lol. The spinach grilled salmon and the country style fried chicken were for my sons, while the shrimp was a freebie (because of the salmon dish - it was part of their promo). I absolutely loved the shrimps! Am not sure if it's part of their regular menu, but if it is, then it is going to be what am getting next time! :)

Food Friday

My post for this week is something that I saw online, while I was searching for recipes that uses Nutella (fyi - my son's latest fave); unfortunately, I just couldn't resist adding something to the recipe - and that's how the avocado got included. lol. Sorry, I forgot the site (there were LOTS that I browsed through)..suffice it to say, this recipe isn't originally mine (except for the addition of the avocado). lol. I call this Crazy Easy-Peasy Toast. :D

Ingredients

• Nutella
• bread, jam (I used mango), avocado, salted peanuts

Procedure

• Spread jam on bread then toast. Not too long, now. Add the sliced avocados then put in toaster...just a bit till it gets a bit toasted and dry.
• Drizzle some nutella on top (you might want to soften it in the microwave, if you want) and add some peanuts.
• Done!
• Had that with hot cheesey no-meat macaroni soup (will post recipe soon).

My sons had theirs without the avocado since they aren't too fond of the fruit like their mom. lol. I liked how the avocado added a new dimension to the taste - almost fresh-like and not too heavy (like what I was expecting). My son suggested bananas, but we were fresh out of bananas that day...next time. :)
