Ms Luna Miranda, with her Nasi Lemak post on her blog Miranda.

I have only heard and read about this dish - Nasi Lemak - but haven't tried it myself. I heart chicken curry, fried anchovies, peanuts, hard boiled eggs and any spicy sauce so I am almost 100% sure that I will love this. I have to convince my family first, though. lol. If you want to see more yummy dishes together with scenic shots, then you should visit Ms. Luna Miranda's blog! You wouldn't be disappointed!

Simple Avocado on Toast...that's my post for today.

Ingredients:
avocado slices
bread (i had slices of sourdough bread)
butter, garlic powder, salt, pepper, chili flakes, olive oil (extra virgin)

Procedure:
Spread butter on sliced bread, then toast.
Sprinkle garlic powder, then top with the avocado slices.
Drizzle olive oil, add some salt (i used coarse), freshly ground black pepper, and chili flakes.
Done!

Easy peasy! Next time I plan to try this a bit differently, maybe with hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, etcetera. Will see. My sons aren't avocado eaters, so they left me alone with my avocado toasts while they had their eggs/rice/bacon breakfast. :D

Ms Dominique with her post Monkey Boy Cooking on a Friday, on her blog, From Dominique's Desk.

Who would have thought that an eight-year old boy made that dish above? Yes, Ms. Dominique's son cooked that all by himself! *clap, clap* Letting our kids help out in the kitchen is a great way to keep them busy and at the same time  let them appreciate and learn how hard (and fun) it is to cook for a family. Good job, Monkey Boy! Do visit Ms. Dominique's blog to learn more about parenting concerns and tips as well as some of the yummy food that they've been having!

Am afraid my food post for this week isn't really healthy...and it's not something that I'd recommend that you eat daily. lol. Peanut butter, Banana, and Marshmallow Sandwich. That's what it's called.

Ingredients

  • two slices of bread (i used whole wheat)
  • one banana, sliced (you may use your fave variety; we only had plantain that day, so that was what i used)
  • peanut butter (your choice..i used creamy)
  • marshmallows (i think it would look way better if i used white smaller sized marshmallows...lol)
  • muscovado sugar (or you may use maple/chocolate syrup)

Procedure:

  • Using an oven toaster, toast the bread slices slightly before slathering with peanut butter.
  • Place the banana slices on one bread while the marshmallows on the other bread slice.
  • Toast both slices until the marshmallows expands, gets gooey, and turns brown on top.
  • Remove from the oven toaster (or the oven), then add muscovado sugar (or maple/chocolate syrup) on top of the toast with the banana slices.
  • Place the marshmallow topped toast on top of the banana topped toast.
  • Enjoy!

I first found this recipe online (yeah, this isn't a Maiylah Original. hehe) a couple of weeks ago, and got curious. I only managed to buy marshmallows this week, so I thought I'd try this. I didn't think I'd like the mix, but I did! It wasn't overly sweet at all, much to my surprise. My youngest son who was with me at that time didn't like it that much, though. That's because he doesn't like peanut butter; he says he prefers eating REAL peanuts instead of peanuts with butter in it. lol. :D

Something Simple and Easy, that's what I want to call my Food Friday post for this week. :h

Ingredients used:
  • toasted bread
  • tomatoes, oranges, parsley
  • extra virgin olive oil, freshly ground black pepper
  • kesong puti
Kesong puti (lit. "white cheese" in Filipino) or Filipino fresh cheese is a soft, white cheese, similar to cottage cheese, made from unskimmed carabao's milk, salt and rennet.[1] It has a soft, close texture and slight salty taste. Some commercial versions are slightly sour due to the use of vinegar in place of rennet. This cheese originated from and is produced in the provinces of Laguna, Bulacan, Samar, and Cebu. In the Philippines, it is a popular breakfast fare eaten with the freshly baked local bread called pan de sal.
*Source
Everything's just a matter of toasting (the bread slices), slicing (the kesong puti and the toasted bread slices), then assembling them on the plate, together with the other ingredients. The drizzling (of the olive oil) and the grinding of the black pepper over the the cheese and bread finishes everything off. Really easy. And tasty! :$

I read in a food post somewhere that they also fry the kesong puti first (in margarine, or butter) before eating it together with pan de sal...got to try that sometime! :P
