Food Friday

19 shared thoughts

One of the perks when you live near the sea is that you get fresh (and I mean really FRESH!) sea produce most of the time. So fresh that sometimes the shrimps, squids and the fishes are still alive when you buy them. :)

...and that was the case with the shrimps above. My sister immediately cleaned the writhing and jumping shrimps (just cut off their antennae and rostrum) and cooked them. Nothing fancy. First, she sauteed some onions and garlic in vegetable oil for a few minutes then added in the cleaned shrimps. When most of them turned reddish she added a bit of salted butter and waited for the rest of the shrimps to cook (which wasn't long). A few sprinkles of salt, and that was it!

Sweet and juicy...

To eat, we just remove the head and shells, then dip the succulent shelled shrimps in properly aged coconut vinegar (mixed with chili and crushed garlic). Perfect! :)

We live in Malabon so we also get the freshest seafoods at the market. That's also how my dad usually cooks shrimps... simple, but really tasty. I prefer it with sweet and spicy sauce, just like how my nanay prepares them. Love, love shrimps! :)

Now lang ako naka-join ulit. Hehehe. Have a fun weekend, sis Maiylah! :)

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE way to eat shrimp...that's one reason I wish I lived close to an ocean...fresher than fresh seafood. The vinegar sounds amazing, too. Happy FF =)

Simply fabulous template no? How big are those shrimps? I find difficult to eat the small ones pero no matter, kain pa din! :D Joining in late for this week...

...yup, this template's from there. wala akong makita na gusto ko eh. unless i pay for it. lol.
the shrimps aren't really big, just around 3/4 an inch thick and more or less four inches long. pwede na. as long as still wriggly. hahaha
