This was taken a couple of weekends ago, when I got my (new) phone. I just had to test it's photo capabilities that night! lol. Was fumbling with the controls and these are the very first shots that i took. Not as wonderful as my old phone (with 12.5MP camera), but I like the photo effects/apps that this new phone has.
Anyway, back to the food: my son and i liked what we had each (i got their baked zitti in tomato sauce while my son got their ham, pineapple and pepperoni pizza) over at Sbarro's that night. Admittedly, those are just a portion of what we had...we also had iced teas, spaghetti with meat sauce (for hubby), and two orders each of their pasta primavera (for both boys). No shots of the other foods, though. :D

Ms. Dexie, who blogs over at FEISTYCOOK, with her blog post: Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips
I love banana bread (blame it all on my father who also loves it and insists on having it as a snack at least three times a week, lol) and so am sure that I will love this, too...specially with the addition of chocolates! I have featured one of Ms. Dexie's food posts before (here), and if you haven't visited her food blog yet, I highly recommend that you do! |

Ms. Jenn, who owns the blog Tara, Let's Eat!, with her blog post: Madge Cafe (La Paz, Iloilo)
...oopps, I think I (or is it InLinkz? lol) made a mistake since there seems to be two players featured this week! And the other Featured in Food Friday player is...
Chef Erwin, who shares Ms. Iska's ISKAndals.com site, with his post: Orange Glazed Porchops
My food post for today is something really SIMPLE (as usual, lol): Mallows, Crackers and Marmalade.
Ingredients:
Procedure:
I decided to do something with the kids and keep our minds off the crazy heat...this seemed the perfect opportunity to do something together, and it was! They both liked it, though they said that I should have added less orange marmalade (I can't help it...i love that stuff! lol). We downed everything with lots of cold milk! :D

Honestly, I wasn't expecting this. Sure, my almost 3year old phone was getting to be slightly unreliable at times, but getting myself an iPhone was (and still is!) a luxury that I can't afford. Yes, I can't afford it, so I guess that's why hubby decided to give me one (and it came with a 3G subscription, too!). :D
Right now, it's actually my youngest son who loves watching his favorite YouTube videos in it...and boy, does it drain the batteries fast! Oh well, am hoping that pretty soon he will get tired of it. Soon. :)
*this is my share over at KM's Happiness Is... meme
I like looking at fashion magazines, but am afraid I don't really feel like dressing up most of the time. I am the tee-shirt, jeans, and flip flops kind of gal, but sometimes I do get the urge to buy something 'fashionable'. lol. Like those Australian Opal Beads that I found on the internet...they do look so gorgeous! I think they will go well with just about any dress/occasion, specially if you pair them with other gemstones. Hey, I think they might even go well with the casual get-up I do, too!
Wishful thinking, I know. :)
Wishful thinking, I know. :)
Just look at the temperature. Honestly, I feel like we are being roasted alive here! Sure, we have air conditioning in our room, but I don't like staying there for long (though the kids certainly love it). I prefer using the electric fans. Crazy, aren't I? lol.
I just hope that this heat wave will be gone real soon. Actually it got hotter as the week progressed. ugh.
Or maybe we should go to a much cooler place, huh?! lol.
Oh yes, this is my best friend right now!
So
HOT
these past few days!
That's just ONE of our
electric fans. :D
I know that some people find talking about sex (and related topics) difficult, such that sometimes it is considered as taboo in some conservative communities. However, I do believe that not talking about it is not right but that we should not trash-talk the subject. We must be mature about it and be more scientific, instead of passing it off as a rude joke.
I mentioned scientific since there are some people who have sexual maladies and it needs to be taken cared of, like the waning sexual drive and it's underlying causes. BUT, am no expert. lol. That's why we need to be open-minded about it and do some research on our own (as well as consult a licensed professional) before taking any medication. If you're interested, you can click here to read testosterone booster reviews or maybe try using your search engine and type in what you want to know. The internet can answer most of our queries these days...though of course you don't need to believe all of them! lol.
Use your better judgement, specially when it comes to personal topics. :)

Through a photo-sharing site, I met another photo enthusiast who was really passionate about her craft. We both had fun uploading our pictures on that site, and received many highly constructive criticisms as well as compliments. We loved that group! I think there was even a member there who mentioned that he was also a member of a wedding photographers raleigh nc, and it was this particular group that helped encourage my friend to try her hand at being a wedding photographer.
Like everything else, though, life moved on and my involvement with the site became less and less. I eventually lost contact with her, but the last time I checked, she was posting some wonderful wedding shots! Am so happy for her, really trying to achieve her dream.
That was years ago...I hope that she's happy wherever she is right now. :)

The Featured Food Friday player for today is...
Chef Heather (aka the "girlichef"), who owns the site girlichef, with her blog post: Chilied Tortilla Soup with Kale
My family and I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately, so I haven't been cooking much. What I came up for this week's Food Friday post is: Poached Egg on Pancakes
Ingredients:
poached egg
pancake (I used the recipe from here)
Procedure:
The pancakes tasted a bit different than the ones we were used to (it wasn't as sweet as the ones from the premixes), but it went well with the poached egg...my eldest son liked it so much he requested that we have it again the next day! lol. Btw, he had two poached eggs on his plate. I only had one. :D
Reminder: Please don't forget to link back (a simple text would be great, or you may use the buttons provided here). Also, please try to visit the other party-goers and leave some commentluv to let them know that you dropped by. Many thanks! :)

Ingredients:
poached egg
pancake (I used the recipe from here)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons white sugar (i used 2.5 tbsp since)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- cooking spray
Procedure:
- Combine milk with vinegar in a medium bowl and set aside for 5 minutes to "sour".
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into "soured" milk. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and whisk until lumps are gone.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Pour 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto the skillet, and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip with a spatula, and cook until browned on the other side.

...just thought i'd post this. not trying to be overly dramatic, lol. i just believe in the quote. :D
This is a story written by Rosemary Danielis. The book is all about an eleven year old child named Iris, who prefers staying at the creek instead of playing with her school friends. Her only friends are the dragonflies and it amazes her how she can connect and relate with the said creatures.
Nonetheless, she is a loving child and cares for the environment, while doing great things for everyone. It was only when she learned of her destiny that her relationship with the dragonflies became more meaningful. So loving this piece of conversation in the book:
Six lucky winners will receive copies of the book - 5 Kindle versions and 1 Paperback copy (autographed, how cool is that)! But wait, there's more: One winner will be randomly chosen to win $25 gift card to spend on Amazon. The giveaway will run from April 7 to 21, 2012.

Ms. Winnie, who blogs over at Something Sweet, with her post: Gluten-Free Chocolate Cake for Passover
Bunuelos {Quick and Tasty Egg Doughnuts}, that's my food post for today.
I remember my sister making bunuelos when we were younger, but it was a complete disaster (it was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, lol)...so am trying it now. I figured am older now (LOL), so maybe my result will be much better. I don't have her recipe, though...so am using this recipe from here: Filipino Snacks and Sweets (by Norma Olizon-Chikiamco).
Ingredients:
Procedure:
Serves 6
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20mins
My youngest son loved these...and I laughed when he said (as I gave some of them to my sister), "I'm going to miss them". He was referring to the doughnuts. :D

Let's face it: quality education is expensive. But that must not stop you from getting the education that you need! In fact, you should find ways how you might be able to earn that college degree you've been dreaming about!
I guess you can say I was lucky: my parents had the means to send me to the university that offers the best education I can ever get (here in my country) with the course of my choice: Veterinary Medicine. The university is VERY FAR from home; to get there we had to ride a plane (though of course you can also utilize the bus which takes far too long, imho), a provincial bus, and a jeepney. I know, almost like a whole day of travelling. But that didn't stop me. In fact, I was so excited! (Remember, I was still a teenager at that time. So excited to be out on my own!)
I was (and still am) thankful I had that experience though trust me, some experiences I wish happened differently. One of them would have been the opportunity to rent textbooks over at CampusBookRentals.com. Renting textbooks can save you lots of money (somewhere between 40-90%) as well as sparing you the hassles of book storage after the semester has ended. There are other perks when you register, too! You can actually win in one of their monthly giveaways even if you are not a paying customer. But do you know what I like best about their site? You can rent books even if you are not a student! Yeah, I graduated decades ago. lol.
Am actually thinking of renting out their Merck Veterinary Manual; but it's not for me. It's for hubby, since he's always on the field, visiting farms. That book is almost like a bible for us veterinarians...a perfect reference/guide.
Or I just might buy it from them and give it to hubby as a gift! So loving the idea... :)

Whenever we travel, I want to make sure that we have snacks with us. It could be biscuits, fruits, chips, or anything that doesn't spoil easily, and can be packed in a jiffy. Last weekend, hubby and I decided to make egg sandwiches. We added dried dill, mayo, freshly cracked pepper, and salt to the mashed hard-boiled eggs.
I didn't know if my sons would go for the sandwiches, but they liked it! Good thing we decided to use the whole loaf or else there would be none left for us adults! lol.

My niece will be having her birthday two days from now, and I absolutely have no idea what to give her. Her mom (my sister) told me that her little girl's so excited for her birthday, that she blurted out one time, "Mom, my birthday for her gifts? Whassit?" I couldn't help but laugh! She really must have been that excited!
We will be going home to the province (hopefully, next month) and visit them, so I know I still have time. Still, I have no idea what to give her...I'll just ask her mom. LOL.
Advance Happy Birthday, April! :)

Here's another "Super Events" Giveaway! This giveaway is hosted by Full Price? Never! together with contributing blogger CuzinLogic. This week we are all happy to introduce you to Therapon and their amazing skin care products!
I remember those days when my eldest son used to have this fascination for anything that concerns any type of yo yo...and it was intensified when he found out that his cousin also shared the same passion! When his cousin came for a visit they had a great time sharing different techniques and showing each other what they knew. Hubby also joined in and shared some tricks that he knew when he was their age (that was eons ago, lol).
But that happened years ago, and they now have different interests. But you know what? What I love about their relationship is that even if they only get to meet a few times a year (his cousin lives in another country), they still chat and laugh every time they meet like it was only yesterday that they played yo yo together... :)
I love relationships like that.
