Food Friday

That's pancit bihon (a type of noodle) guisado (my version, lol) which we had for lunch. What's different about this noodle (aside from it's greenish tinge) is that it is fortified with malunggay (Moringa oleifera). I was intrigued, so I bought a pack and left it in storage promptly for almost two weeks. LOL.

I only remembered I had it while I was rummaging around, looking for something to cook. That's right, we are now low on stocks. So I mixed it with what was available inside the freezer: ground pork and peas (we also have boneless bangus belly but I don't think it will go well with the noodles...or will it?). I also found some potatoes lying around, so added that too. Plus soy sauce, salt, fish sauce (yes, a must!), ground pepper, garlic, onion, sesame oil, and a bit of dried dill. Of course, we shouldn't forget another important ingredient: calamansi juice (added to the pancit on your plate).

Verdict: hubby said it tasted weird (LOL) while my two-year old ate two servings of the dish. As for me, I liked it. :P

ps. should have done this EONS ago: adding a backlink to those who played as my way of saying thanks for linking back. :)

*I don't think my other blog will be 'operational' real soon...and I don't think I have the time to make another blog, so Food Friday is here to stay. For now. I think. Many many thanks to those who have kept on playing! :)

Should I? Or shouldn't I?

They say that if your skin gets exposed to the sun all the time it can cause it to age way ahead of time. I know, there are lots of anti wrinkle creams around, but taking care of our skin the right way is important, too. There are not only physical aspects, but also what you feel inside and what you put inside your body. Admittedly, I don't have a perfect regimen about how I take care of my skin, but I try. For one, I try to eat more vegetables. It's fine, since I love vegetables more compared to meat. I just need to sleep more, though. Sleep is important.

But I just feel so good when I surf the internet...Oh well. Must try to curb the habit!

Nothing new

i haven't done anything new these past few days with this blog's template. I want to, but it takes time. Something which I don't have much these days. Not yet, anyway.

In the meantime, I try taking pictures whenever I can.

...would love to try that cake someday. Food again, I know. :D

Difficult

I saw a shot of me last week which was taken years back, and the first thing that came to my mind was: I wasn't fat at all! Yeah, ever since I can remember, I have almost always thought that I was fat. Except during those days when I got sick with amoebiasis after a camping trip (that totally sucks!) But that was eons ago. Now I know I'm fat (am a bit far from the 'normal' range with my height range), and not only that, my body mass index is a bit high, too. I guess it's time I take a look at Phentermine 37.5! Well, I will do some researching first. I honestly wouldn't take anything without a doctor's approval.

I guess the first thing I should do is eat less...but it's so difficult! :(

Not old

Yup, this isn't actually an old photo. In fact, took this shot last Feb 16 (of this year) while we were along the highway. Just thought I'd play with it. As usual. :P

Not getting any younger

0 shared thoughts
There's no doubt about it...am not getting any younger! It finally hit me when I was bathing my two-year old a few minutes ago: my back hurt after bending uncomfortably for a few minutes! Or is that a normal reaction? lol. Maybe I should start doing exercises?! And while am at it, I think I should try losing some of the weight, too. I know I have gained weight, specially after all that valentine bingeing! Hmmmm...my face doesn't look wrinkled, but who knows? I just might be needing one of those anti wrinkle creams sooner than I think, too! ;)

Milkfish (Bangus) Belly
... first cooked it in water, soy sauce, vinegar, salt, pepper, ginger, chili, smoked paprika and garlic, then had it for dinner. The next day I fried the leftovers slightly, reduced the liquid, and drizzled a bit of sesame oil (love the aroma as well as the taste) and calamansi juice to the finished product.

Paired with steaming rice...burp! :D

New Blog at...

Yup, i have another blog. Got a new one (self-hosted using wordpress). Actually, I had another blog but am not doing anything to it right now, and so when i got the chance to get a new one...i grabbed at the chance. Thanks so much to Ma Belle of 888host.net. :)

Would you believe I only paid for my domain name (roughly US$10 for a year) and my hosting is free (for a year, worth around US$25)? Yup, I only paid that much...while in my other self-hosted blog i remember paying around almost US$200 for a three-year period! Sure, the other server might have lots of features, but all I really want to do is blog. Nothing fancy. So I don't need all those other features. For now, anyway. LOL

Anyway, my 'name' there is different. Not maiylah, but mymy. Yeah, friends and family call me by both names. :)

Anyway, here's a shot of what it looks like right now. So loving the template am using there...so easy to change everything (excluding the fonts, i still have to get around to that).

Still truly undecided what to post in that blog. That's the main reason why I called it My bric-a-brac. :P

Whenever I see an interesting pasta I can't help but get one (if it's within the budget); and this was the case with this 'vegetable pasta spirals', as I call it.

I wanted something light so all I added was ground pork (would have wanted to make meat balls, but was too lazy), onions, garlic (lots!), tomatoes, dill, cheddar cheese, and a light soya-based cream. Salt and pepper, too.

That was it, and the shot above was the result. :)

My Chance

Now who wouldn't want to pass on the chance to try that? Not me! ;)

Just Olive Oil

6 shared thoughts

Finally tried Subway's Veggie Delight without mayonnaise. I asked for olive oil to be drizzled instead. It might look kind of 'boring', but I think it tasted great just with the olive oil and the other ingredients. Healthier, I think, than letting them add mayonnaise or any other mixed dressings. :)

Tweaking, still

0 shared thoughts
As usual...changed my shot to the extreme grungy/vintage/weird look. LOL

Still tweaking with this template. So far the fonts have been changed, but just can't seem to find how the distance from the post title and the post can be changed. Will get to that.

Soon. I hope. :D

Still a kid after all...

My youngest is now two years old, and quite a handful sometimes specially if we go out. It just makes me wish I had known about those bob revolution se (se = sport edition) strollers when he was younger. Sure, we got him a stroller, but it wasn't quite safe to use anymore after he turned one and a half years old. He is a bit on the big side and loves moving around a lot; the stroller could just possibly topple over with him on it! So what we did: let him run loose. LOL. Of course, someone's always watching over him, which can be quite tiring if you don't have the same amount of energy that he does. Like me.

It's a good thing that he now listens most of the time what we tell him. He can be quite stubborn sometimes, but hey, he's still a kid after all.  ;)

Again

And so I continue tweaking with my blog's template... ;)

Actually, I think I should have tried draft.blogger first instead of tweaking the html directly. But it's not too late. As long as I have access to the internet, computer, and loads of time, then I'm good to go (tweaking some more)!

Honestly, some might think it weird, but I think it's FUN! :D

Heart's Day

0 shared thoughts
It's the month of February again...and guess what? Yup, aside form the Chinese Lunar New Year (which wasn't a holiday...tsk.tsk), this month also celebrates Heart's Day (aka Valentine's Day)! Well, of course I don't expect the latter to be a national holiday, but expect for sure to be seeing flowers everywhere! I just found out that you can also get online one of those Los Angeles Valentine's Day flowers delivered to your loved ones! Isn't that neat? I mean, if the flowers are coming abroad (from where I'm at), then that would mean you're really extra special. So cool.

I wonder what I'll get this February. A new camera, I hope.
Yeah. Right. ;)

Food Friday

Would you believe that for this noodle dish to taste really great you'd have to add vinegar? Yup. Vinegar. We were baffled at first, but it really tasted way better after vinegar was added.

That's Pancit Lucban (or Habhab) from Buddy's Pancit Lucban at Longganisang Lucban restaurant.

New Template (again)

4 shared thoughts
Couldn't resist changing my template...again. :D

The last one lasted less than a month. I wonder how long this one will last. LOL
This template's nice...though I did tweak some of it (like the header, size of the main body as well as the sidebar). Plan to tweak some more, like maybe put a divider, or something. We'll see. :)

*it's a good thing the author of this template allows tweaking, as long as her link isn't removed...
as of 9:59pm: added the post divider! just couldn't wait to tweak some more...

still more tweaking to be done... :D
