Donate My Car

1 shared thoughts
I think it's selfish not sharing what you have in abundance. Be it clothes (some of us tend to shop for clothes at a whim ... just use it twice - or thrice - then completely forget all about it), toys (for those with young kids, this could be a dilemna), food (yes, some people have more than others; actully, I think more than they really need), money (for some there is such a thing; that's what charities are for, I believe), and cars (some of those who don't use their cars anymore, but just stacked them in their garage). I could probably list some more, but I believe you get the general idea. :)

Car donations isn't really popular where I'm at, but I think it's a wonderful idea! There's this organization where they have a program called Donate My Car. It's great since they help at risk youths and the homeless get back their lives in order. With a car donation, they can also send uplifting and spiritual books to prisons, as well as make dvds for children. That might not sound much to some, but what matters is that someone is doing something about it.

Touching lives and making them feel alive and worthy again is actually more than payment enough for what a car donation can do. I believe this is a worthy cause, and at the same time help us with the clutter we have around our homes. Don't you think so? :)

Look what arrived today!!!! :)

I got this really cool journal from Leah of Mga Muni-Muni (Thoughts and Reflection).

I guessed where she was in an old photo that she posted. Actually, I haven't met Leah yet, so I just took the clues that she wrote, including the ones by those who commented. I was lucky enough to have given the right answer, and won this cool journal! :)

It was such a pleasant surprise seeing my shots on the cover, too. Cool ... :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH, LEAH!!!

ps. She's got another blog, too: Cool and Composed

Green Thumb Sunday

That's a yellow hibiscus flower, shot at a university garden.

What I really liked about the flower was that even if the petals were torn (by some insect, most probably, since it was too high up to be done by passer-bys), it still looked beautiful. Well, to me, at least. :)

I love the different colors of this plant type ... red, violet/bluish, white, yellow ... and so many varieties! My sister has planted the violet/bluish variety in her garden, but it didn't seem to be thriving too well. Kind of spindly and the aphids are so attracted to it. Occasionally it blooms, though. :)

Living Environment

0 shared thoughts
Treating our environment right is one of our responsibilities, wherever in the world we are. If we do things right today, we will have passed on to the next generations the importance of our living environment, and the how and why we must take care of it in every possible - but safe and healthy for all - way.

There has been some controversy regarding the state's permission for "BP to release “significantly more” ammonia and sludge into Lake Michigan from its refinery in Whiting." That statement alone could cause environmentalists to protest, but as continued in this Editorial article from News-Sentinel.com, BP and Lake Michigan, there is more to that story. The editors have written down some fair and factual news regarding the situation.

An article from Chicagotribune.com, BP gets break on dumping in lake, however, doesn't sound too good. But that doesn't really cover all of the story. The article made by News-Sentinel.com seems to have covered more grounds about the topic. Cheaper fuel, no harm to the people or the environment, more jobs to be generated, and continuous improvement are some of the issues to be considered also.

Here's a link to the BP Refinary Factsheet, and what and where they stand regarding environmental issues: http://whiting.bp.com/go/doc/1550/165356
To learn more about the company: http://www.bp.com/modularhome.do?categoryId=4700&contentId=7009119

Technological advancements and environmental issues almost always are together; sometimes we do need to evaluate what will happen in the long run. Reaching an educated decision means we have to be fair and see both sides of the story, and from there see which would be more beneficial, not only to us humans, but also to the living environment.

Ecouponcodes.com

Don't you just love it when you go shopping at those places where you really love (and use) the products, and then you get discounts for your purchases? That would definitely make me want to go back there again!

Ecouponcodes.com is such a site where you can get lots of discounts while purchasing products from their feature merchant stores, like Alibris (where you can get used, new, and hard-to-find books, movies, and music), Things Remembered (where you'll find great personalized gifts for whatever occasions), Petsmart ( products, services and solutions for your pet's needs), and for your clothing needs, at Gap. They have other featured merchants on their list, and really worth checking out.

Of course, they also have discount coupon codes for other stores like HSN (which offers around 25,000 products on their lines), GotFruit.com (they pack and deliver premium fruits and gourmet gifts), Zirh (shaving and skin care products for men of all skin types), Vermont Teddy Bear (their teddy bears are really beautiful and would be perfect as gifts for friends, or for yourself!), and a whole lot of other equally interesting stores which I know we all shopped once (or twice) before, or are familiar to us.

Ecouponcodes.com
is really wonderful, since you can do your shopping in a relatively stress-free situation (at home), and aside from that, you will also avail of the online shopping coupons on the products of your choice! Now that's a great deal!

Belisi Fashions

Some of us (me, usually) need advices every once in a while when it comes to getting all dressed up. Sometimes we're just not so sure if this silk scarf can go with that handbag. Or what type of personal coloring season we belong; what organic beauty products are available ... or which fashion accessories can go with just about anything.

Peter Belisi, the founder and creater of Belisi, has such elegantly designed fashion accessories, it's really worth the look (or clicks). Not only that, he also has Belisi Radio where his compilation of music is all about sophistication, classics, and beauty. Quite an interesting list!

The Designer Handbags Collection from Belisi will be available soon. To be updated and to receive their product reviews from their luxury handbags line, head on over to their contact page and sign up. It's absolutely free!

Hockey's Future

Interested about hockey?

I'm not much of a hockey person, but that doesn't mean I don't want to know anything about it! On the contrary; sometimes not knowing about something makes me want to know more about it. Funny, huh?!

There's this site, Hockeysfuture.com, an nhl draft and hockey prospect magazine online, where you can get your hockey fix in a snap! It has loads of information about the different teams and their recent going-ons, and it also has a forum site where you can discuss hockey matters with other members.

Browsing through the site is easy, and it's really quite informative. That's what I really liked about this site. Hockey information in every click!

Every Thursday they go LIVE via their HF Radio where you get to listen every 9-10PM EST. A new season of HF Radio will begin pretty soon, on August 2nd at 9 PM EST.

Let's watch out for that! :)

Soy Candles

Honestly, this is the first time I've heard of soy candles, and I'm loving them already! Imagine your house being decorated with these all-natural premium soy candles... the scents am sure would be heavenly!

Unlike other scented candles, soy candles will have that natural aroma that you can only get using natural ingredients, and there will be less soot since they will burn cleaner. Compared to traditional paraffin candles, they burn cooler, so that means they burn longer, too!

Caterpillarscandles.com offers their soy candles in different packages, and you can choose by style, scent, and color (it should complement your room decor, after all). So if you want to know where you can get the best soy candles in the internet, don't forget to check out caterpillarscandles.com!

... and while you're ordering, use coupon code FREE5 and save 5% off your order. :)

When wisps of white
Sail across the sky
When the breeze blows warm
And the days grow long
From somewhere in the distance
You can hear my song
Coo-ooo, Coo-ooo Coo-oooo

When mangoes ripen
In the dark green trees
And hovering around
Are busy buzzy bees
Right over the wall
You can hear my call
Coo-o, Coo-oo, Cooo-ooo

When plump wild figs
Go squish under your feet
And juicy purple jamuns
Are munched by parakeets
From somewhere up high
You can hear my tuneful cry
Coo-ooo, Coo-oo, Coo-oo-oo-oo

When from dawn to dusk
You must indoors stay
When all else is quiet
In the middle of the day
You can hear me sing
Sweetly carrolling
Coo-ooo, Coo-oooo, Coo-oooo

Cell Phones and Wireless Plans

0 shared thoughts
Cell phones nowadays are no longer just an accessory; in fact, they are now more of a necessity, than anything else. Having a cell phone with you, specially when traveling alone, can be a source of comfort. The idea that a loved one is just a phone call away could really be reassuring.

Gone are the days when wireless phones are big, clumsy, and oh-so-boring! The cell phones of today are more sleek, colorful (you can even change their colors depending on your mood!), and functions not just as a "simple phone". Emailing, recording, and web-surfing are just some of the features available. Really a far cry from the first big and clumsy cell phones!

To get your dose of cell phones, visit Wirefly, the internet's leading seller of cell phones and wireless plans. They offer more carriers (like verizon wireless, sprint, AT&T, and many more), more phones, and the best wireless plans suited for you and for your family.

Their site is easy to browse and very informative. What's also great is that they have this resources page where you can research for the phone that you want, compare it with the other available phones, and once you've decided which one you wanted, you can purchase the new cell phones online. If you're not sure which plan to take, the Wirefly Wizard can help, and even save you up to 40% on your wireless monthly bill!

Wirefly is definitely the site to go to when you want to check out the latest and best offers for wireless phones and plans, no doubt about that! :)

CHILDHOOD

Is it funny
Would it be strange
To see a young girl
Go dancing around
the market place
Or climb trees by the highway
Or flick an orange from a cart
Or sing to the silent nightingale
Or smile at the nodding flowers
Or rush to hug you
When you'd rather think
a casual Hullo! would do
Or talk to the stars
and splash in the puddles
made by rain
Would it be strange
if she never grew up
and chose to remain the same.

Drink Your Veggies

0 shared thoughts
We all know that consuming the right amount of daily vegetables is good for our bodies, specially if we are concerned about healthy living. Unfortunately, most of us are guilty from not eating the right amounts of green foods ... but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything about it, or change our lifestyle so drastically.

An alternative health lifestyle to eating your organic food is by drinking it. Yes, you read that right: drink my daily veggies. There's this alternative vegetable supplement, which you can drink, called My Daily Veggies.

This is a great alternative vegetable supplement for those who are always on the go, or for camping enthusiasts. This can even be added to any food, to increase their nutritional value, like in home-made meatloaf, or in dips. Aside from that, this is a great camping food, since all you have to do is mix it with water and it's ready to go. What's wonderful is that you're not skimping on your daily vegetables, and you get your daily dietary supplement as easy as that!

Now no more feeling guilty if you won't be able to go to the green foods market to get your daily vegetables. You can try a seven days supply of MyDaily Veggies for free, a $10 value pack. A 30-packet box (worth $39.95 plus $3.95 S&H each time) will be automatically delivered to you every month, after three weeks. You can always have the option to cancel, if you want. But I assure you, this is definitely an inexpensive marketing-guilt laden purchase for those healthy-consciouse people out there. :)

Thankful

1 shared thoughts

I Am Thankful

I am thankful for everything I have experienced
In this life of mine
For in all I have found
That in His Word-the answers I find

I am thankful for all the tears I have cried
For they have taught me to appreciate laughter
They have given me the ability to see the
The joy that comes after

Through my tears I have come to know
His Holy Spirit in my life
How He is always there
And comforts through the strife

I am thankful for the storms I have encountered
Knowing that the rainbow is at the end
Realization that they are only temporal
That with time all will mend

I have learned that I don’t need to be strong
For Yahshua supplies the strength for me
He shoulders my burdens
Regardless of what the circumstance may be

I am thankful for all the relationships
For the good and yes, for the bad
For they have given life to my emotions
An appreciation of what I have had

My most valuable relationship
Is that with Yahweh, my Father
I know that I can trust Him
As I can trust no other

I am thankful for the pain I have known
It has given a compassion for the suffering
An ability to reach out to others
An appreciation of little things

I understand the greatness of Yahshuas love
And the pain He has suffered for me
How He endured all things
So that I could be set free

I am thankful for the hunger and thirst
That I have had to go through
I appreciate having food before me
And sharing it with others too

He has given himself as my food and drink
To make sure that I was fed
His Blood shed for my drink
And His Body broken for my bread

Most of all, I am thankful for His Grace
For the provisions that it brings
How it has provided for
Me in all things

Bar Stools and Online Dining Sets

1 shared thoughts
A friend of mine plans to redo her house abroad, since her two sons will be joining her, while she's taking her doctorate. She has been planning to bring the two boys with her, since she wants her sons to experience growing up with her around. I think that's a splendid idea! It might cost her more, but her sons will always be with her; a small price to pay, in my opinion. :)

Anyway, i told her about this online dining sets located over at Furniturefromhome.com. She was skeptical at first when I told her about it and how I came to know about the site. She mentioned that she wanted to redo her kitchen first, and when I mentioned that they have this fantastic selection of bar stools, swivel bar stool, and wrought iron bar stool, she was ecstatic, because she plans to have a bar, too, if her budget permits. I told her it's a good thing, they deliver for free!

When my friend tried browsing through the site, she said that she really liked the furnitures being featured, and kept telling me about this country wood dining room dinette set. She thinks it's so cute and different. She absolutely loves the smooth finish and the color. She also mentioned a beautiful country style counter height set, and I have to admit, I also liked that one. So much to choose from!

The next items that she had a hard time choosing were the bar stools and tall chairs. They were all exquisitely designed that she said she wasn't sure which one that she wanted. However, she wanted one that would compliment her other pieces. She was really glad that the website was user-friendly and the lay-out wonderful. She particularly enjoyed browsing and looking for the one that she really wanted, since it was all being categorized in an orderly fashion.

For now, she and her family are still here, but they plan to travel before classes starts. She wants her kids to be prepared when they go and live in another country. Her kids have to deal with going to a new shool, having new classmates, and living in another country with a different culture. That's why she wants their new house not to be too different from their house here ... and some of the furnitures being featured at Furniturefromhome.com definitely looks similar to some of her treasured furnitures. What a wonderful find! :)

The Wooden Bowl

4 shared thoughts
this is going to be quite a long read ... but i have recieved this email countless of times already.
never fails to get me teary-eyed all the time.

The Wooden Bowl

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in- law, and four-year old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table.

But the elderly grandfather' s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in- law became irritated with the mess. "We must do something about father," said the son. "I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor."

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl!

When the family glanced in Grandfather' s direction, sometime he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence. One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you making?"Just as sweetly, the boy responded, "Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up." The four-year-old smiled and went back to work .

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather' s hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she
handles four things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life.."

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.!

I've learned that you should pass this on to everyone you care about.
I just did.

NOTICE AT THE END, THE DATE
THE CANDLE WAS STARTED.
GONNA GIVE YOU GOOSE BUMPS.
I am not going to be the one who
lets it die. I found it believable --
angels have walked beside me
all my life--and they still do.
************ *********
This is to all of you who mean something to me,
I pray for your happiness.

Alive Directory - family friendly resource directory

Don't we all just love to submit our blogs to resource directories just so we might have additional visitors? New links can do wonders to one's blog ranking, as well as submissions to search sites. The easier your site can be found amongst all those data, the higher your rating.

Well, I found this site, Alive Web Directory, a complete family friendly internet resource directory, where you can submit your link without the fear of getting spam mails. Their site is well organized and browsing is easy. There are no extra frills to clutter the site, and everything is presented in a well-thought of lay-out.

However, it isn't free. You have to pay a minimum of $34.95 per year for regular listing; while the highest you pay for permanent featured pricing (with 5 additional links), is at $299.95. These might look and sound stiff at the moment, but for those businesses out there who are just starting and want their websites easily searched by the search engines, submitting links to sites like these could be beneficial. Think of all the possible links you might get, including the valuable exposure your site might be enjoying.

So for those who are thinking of submitting their sites to a friendly internet resource directory, do check out Alive Web Directory. A number of sites are already listed there, and I'm sure they're already reaping the benefits that they're getting just by submitting their links to be listed at that site.

Charlie Brown

I remember when I was still quite young (yeah, i really was! ;p) and a classmate had lots of this Charlie Brown books ... we would exchange books every so often; she with her Charlie Brown, and me with our fairy tale books. lol. Now does that sound like a fair exchange?

We weren't thinking then that what we were doing would help us share this love for books. Up until she left for another country, we were constantly exchanging books, and other goodies. She had the most unusual goodies to show me! Well, i guess because she was constantly travelling wherever her dad was going, and that included going abroad.

Come to think of it ... haven't thought about her for ages. I miss her ....

Storage bed book case ... a dream!

Wouldn't it be great choosing our home furniture from the comforts of our home?

Finding good quality furniture these days would be quite tiring if you really go to the store itself and choose your home office furniture, for instance. Choosing a good living room furniture, too, that matches your taste and room style would be a nightmare, if you have to go all around just shopping for that "perfect one".

No need to fuss and fret about it ... there's this online funiture store that can supply you with the furniture that you need. In fact, they have this king size storage bed that really got my attention.

What I really like about that bed is that you can store lots of things underneath it, and even on the header! Now for those who really are into reading before getting to sleep, this is the perfect choice, the queen storage book case bed. Plenty of additional space within the bed frame, where you can store more of your books, or other reading materials; a greatly sought after design for book lovers. Since I do a bit of reading before I go to sleep, the name alone is enticing. The color and material (oak), including the finish really stands out, and calls for your attention.

Think you might like this gorgeous storage book case bed? Head on over to Furniturefromhome.com and check out their amazing supply of furnitures, and I'm so sure you'll find one that will suit you and your home's needs.

Their site is easy enough to browse, and one wonderful feature that I liked is that they have this beautiful shots of the featured furnitures, including their sale items. You can also shop depending on what item it is you're looking for; by room, style, or color. I really like that "by color" part. :)

So, what are you waiting for? Visit their site and check them out. Even if you know that you won't be needing any furnitures now, it's well worth the click. It will keep you updated, as well as give you an idea where you'll be getting your next furniture next.

Oh, did I mention that they deliver for free, 100% of the time? Yes, they do! You can also call them toll free at 877-232-0783 for a prompt and friendly service.
