Yup ... got this from hubby on Christmas Eve! :)
... a kid with a new toy! that's me. LOL
Lately I have been experiencing stuffy nose and persistent cough, and this happened one night when I slept with the fan right behind me. I am so used to sleeping with a fan turned on, but not on a cold night like that night. I was just too lazy to turn it off and now I am suffering because of my laziness. I think I should be thinking about allergy relief, but for now all I have been doing is drinking lots of hot calamansi juice (aside from the usual bingeing, lol). Sometimes it goes away, and now that it's night-time, it's starting to act up again.
Oh well. I hope that this will be gone when we go back home. Tomorrow. :)

I love going to different places and if given a chance I would want to visit Mexico someday. Why Mexico, some would undoubtedly ask. Well, I guess it's because I am intrigued by their cuisine, specially the different spices that they use. But I have to be concerned about my health, too, and that's where medical travel Mexico comes into the scene. You can avail of their medical benefits when you travel abroad, including Mexico, since that is where they are based. I need to do more research on how this actually works, but not right now since I don't think I'll be traveling to Mexico during the next six months. ;)
It just feels good to know that while traveling you need not worry so much about medical insurance, as long as you know where to get one.

First ....
Now on to a more serious subject (laughs)...
I love eating desserts and I believe that I have eaten quite a few boxes of brownies already in my lifetime (hehehe). So far this was the best one yet! It tasted just right (not too overly sweet), and the texture stayed the same (kind of crisp on the outside but chewy on the inside) even if we placed it inside the refrigerator for a day. My son got this as one of his gifts from their school's Christmas party and he said it was homemade. No wonder ... it tasted real good!

Whenever we order pizza I almost always choose the one with the most 'plant(s)' on it. LOL. This one's from Yellow Cab, their Garden Fresh Pizza with extra toppings of cheese and bacon (had to satisfy our craving for bacon). :)
What's your favorite pizza?

I just love the freebie photoshop actions that I got from Totally Rad!! :)
I wish I could buy their photoshop actions. sigh. wishful thinking ...
I used a glass negative by Christina Renee, though... i think it makes the shot more vintage-like.
... loving the grungy/vintage look! :)
ps. this isn't a paid post, btw. lol. if you like experimenting with your shots using photoshop actions, then you should check out the Totally Rad site and get their freebies! :)

My sister had to have the tile flooring in her son's room renewed since something seems to be wrong with how they were installed. She had them installed when my nephew went to college since he wouldn't be able to sleep there while the men were working. It wasn't a pretty sight, and there was dust all over! I hope that I wouldn't have the same problem as her; I think it's too much trouble!
But who knows ... I'll just be keeping my fingers crossed. :D

Lately giving my youngest a bath (which is normally twice a day) has been quite tiring since he doesn't seem to want to go inside the bathroom anymore. I guess it's because the water from the faucet is cold sometimes and the hot water that I put doesn't seem to be enough. I wish that we'd have additional bathroom fixtures like a faucet for hot water and another one for room temperature water. But I guess that that's never going to happen since we live in a tropical country and the cold weather only happens around two months in a year!
There's no harm in dreaming, though. ;P

That's just simply pork chops, deep fried twice. The first time I just fried them slightly; the second time was a bit longer since I wanted the skins to "pop" and the meat to cook thoroughly. Sometimes I eat them with gravy, but sometimes I eat them simply like that, with soy sauce and calamansi juice as a dip. I paired this bunch with hot steamed rice and some fruits. :)

My family and I love gadgets and we do make it a point to save for something if ever we wanted new stuffs. We got our son his gadgets too, like his gameboy, ps2, psp, and Wii. We were asking him before if he wanted a ps3, but the Wii won over; maybe because most of his classmates have that gaming console, and that must have influenced his decision a lot. Hubby and I did not complain since we know that he deserves that game console (our son got into the directress' list that year) for all the hard work he did at school. Besides, we enjoy playing with his gadgets, too! ;P
Now that there's another vacation coming up (it's almost Christmas, remember? lol) I know some people are already planning (or most probably have already planned) where they will spend those few days of Christmas bliss together. Some might be thinking of orlando vacations, or others might prefer just staying at home.
As for my family and I, well, we are near (relatively) my MIL's house, so that's where we'll be spending Christmas. It's only a two-hour drive from our place. This summer, though, is another story; we plan to spend those sunny two months with my parents in the province. :)

My family and I went out a few weeks ago to celebrate my MIL's birthday and it was decided that we eat out instead of letting the birthday celebrate cook. :)
We ordered different salads, a pizza, and spaghetti. Looks like I had too much carbo there, huh?! ;P
... a slab of steak would be perfect with that. In my own opinion, anyway. :D

I remember when my eldest son was born, hubby wanted to pass out cigars that day, but we couldn't find any cigar store in town! Well, we were in the province that time (Mindanao) and I guess in our area cigar (except maybe for the local ones ... like the one that my grandfathers used to smoke sometimes) wasn't that common. He didn't feel like passing out cigarettes, so we didn't give anything out that day. lol. Anyway, we had to move to another hospital the next day since they wanted to observe my newborn then; he wasn't as 'active' as they wanted him to be. Hubby and I were worried, but it was a good thing our worries were unfounded.
We returned home a week later, with our eldest. :)

This was what my ten-year old son had (for lunch) when we went out last weekend ... we thought that their serving would be small; but believe me, we were surprised when they served us this dish! I think two persons could have easily shared this one (or maybe not, if you really have a big appetite, lol). It was a good thing our son was hungry ... he finished everything (except for a few olives from the salad which he wasn't too keen about); turned out he was still full after a couple of hours (we had a late lunch, around past three in the afternoon) so he begged to be excused come dinner time. :)
*he liked it so much he said he'd most probably order it again ... LOL

As most of my food friday friends know, my other blog was hacked a few months ago. It is still there, considered as one of those 'attack sites'. It really gets to me, but I haven't done anything since I still don't have the time to dabble with it much, plus the fact that I really have no idea how to go about fixing it. Am not so sure if an online backup was really necessary, but I guess it would have helped. Am thinking of deleting everything on that blog/site and starting anew. But am hesitant since am not sure what would happen if I do that. Or would deleting my files there help anything at all? Or would those darn trojans still be around after I delete my files?
Troubling ... sigh.
Troubling ... sigh.
Next month hubby's vehicle will supposedly be "changed" to another one. That's because it has been about five years now since he's had it and he has almost completed his payments. It was on an 'option-to-own' plan and I think that their company is real generous to be offering him that option. I know some companies offer the same plan since I believe that it is an incentive for the future car owners to take care of the company vehicles diligently.
We already have an idea what the next car is going to be, and that's why we are also checking up on some car accessories; both online and offline. We want to personalize the car just so it wouldn't look 'generic', but not too much or else it would look like there's a fiesta going on! ;P

When I was in college I had to read through a lot of books (of course, that didn't mean I really memorized all the written words! lol) and somehow we can't help but sift through some topics like the automated external defibrillator (AED). Even if I was studying then to be a veterinarian that didn't mean we wouldn't be touching on products intended for humans. In fact, we usually touched on products for humans since most of the gadgets for animals were not that available, then. Sure, in other countries it was available, but for us here in a developing nation we had to improvise; a lot.
Somehow that made me realize that most of the people then were not that concerned when it came to animals. BUT, that is slowly being changed; and am really glad. :)

Bought a box of bibingka (rice cake) when we last went to the weekend market ... tasted quite nice, though not to "die for". :)

It has been more than a year now since I gave birth, and at the rate that I am gaining weight (I just love eating! lol) I think I might be needing one of those weight loss pills you can see online! Though of course I have to consider which would be the safest one to buy; and that's why researching about them is important. I honestly haven't tried one, yet, but who knows? Maybe I might be needing one ... soon! :P
Two weekends ago hubby and I went to one of those "weekend markets" (I call them that since they are only around during weekends) near our place; we prefer going there (even if sometimes the products are a bit expensive) since the products being sold there are relatively fresher compared to, say, when you go to a supermarket. Plus I get to find there some food products that are quite 'new' for me, too ... like the malunggay (moringa) chips and the pinipig suman above. Forgot how much each costs, but I wasn't impressed by the taste. The chips tasted a bit weird and had a slightly bitter after-taste (but it was crunchy) while the pinipig suman looked like it had too much food coloring (btw, that brown thingy on the suman is muscovado sugar)! LOL

Well, yup, that is the name of my pet in one of those facebook games, super poke pets. Sometimes when I wake up early in the morning (because I had to give my son a bottle of milk), I also try to check up on Paltik. Not much, though since it's a good thing he doesn't die when I don't feed him for days! lol. I don't think I have dark circles under my eyes, since I can't help but sleep after I feed my son; taking care of a one year old could be draining, specially if you don't have a nanny. That's why I try to make it a point to sleep whenever I can ... too bad it does take time away from the computer, but I think that that's the logical choice. I'll have all the time that I want (to dabble with the computer and take nature shots) when my baby's older. :)
Have you tried eating this before?
Our eldest sister arrived from the province a couple of days ago and she got us some of these ... binagol. I've had binagol since i was really young, but haven't gotten round to asking my mom it's ingredients. Did a bit of research and found out that it's a sweetened nutty taro pudding. The center is the sweetest part, where you'll find some peanuts and other soft sweet stuffs. Sometimes that's the part that gets eaten first. :)
This is actually sort of like soul food, for me. Just brings back all those memories which happened eons ago. ;p
*I couldn't eat all of that in just one sitting, though. Too sweet (and heavy in the belly) for me. That binagol is meant to be shared. ;)*

Christmas is already near .... and I know most people are excited about getting away from work even just for a couple or so of days! lol. I know a former classmate who's in-laws have a chateau somewhere near some gorgeous mountains and so almost every winter she and her son go on "ski vacations" whenever they visit the in-laws. My classmate isn't really that keen on the sport (she prefers the sun and the beach), but she knows how important it is that her son bonds with his grandparents every once in a while. True enough, her son adores his grandparents! :)
Hubby is usually out most of the day because of his job, and we have gotten used to that situation. However, sometimes I do worry a bit when he travels long distances using his vehicle since accidents can (and do) happen. I trust him and his driving, though I can't say much when it comes to other reckless drivers out there. It's great that there are devices that you can get online to protect you when accidents do happen (like a fall protection product, or something similar).
But still, the best thing to do is to avoid accidents whenever you can; follow rules while on the road and don't let irresponsible drivers get to you ... easier said than done, I know. ;P

Something sweet for this week's Food Friday ... :)
I forgot the cake's name but am sure that this cake was posted both by T. Julie and Peachkins in one of their FF posts (the first time it was released to the public) ... this is a cake from Red Ribbon. Forgot the name ... silly me! :D
Care to refresh my memory? All I can remember was that the cake was soooo sweet I had a hard time finishing that one slice! lol.
*thanks to Jay for helping me name the cake; it's White Forest Cake. :)

I must admit: I am guilty. Nothing that serious, thank heavens, but enough for me to go out of my way and search for the best acne treatment! lol. I have been sleeping late these past few nights because of this game from Facebook: Cafe World.
I only clicked on the game because I think it looked kind of cute. But now I'm hooked! I do play other games, but have given up on some of them because it encourages the player to steal or kill other gamers; just not my type. I prefer non-violence. lol.
The above shot was taken less than an hour ago, btw ... :D
... and I am still playing.

I was surprised a couple of years ago when I saw my older sister's overweight classmate walk from the church looking real slim and poised; and I thought that she must have taken one of the best weight loss pill she can find! I mean, really she was that fat before, and when I saw her that time she must have taken around three-fourths of that weight from her body! I felt happy for her (since I knew she suffered weight-related illnesses).
So imagine my surprise again when I saw a recent picture of her in Facebook and saw that her former weight seems to be catching up with her! I wish she had just maintained (or maybe added only just a bit since she looked so frail that time... almost like a small wind could blow her down!) the weight.
But I know, it is a personal thing.

But I know, it is a personal thing.
After I gave birth to my youngest son last year I felt like my weight had reached a ton, and so I thought that I might be needing some slimming pills to tone me down. But it was a good thing I was mistaken since I reverted back to my old weight (actually, almost ten kilos shorter!) eventually. Nope, no slimming pills; I just didn't feel like eating.
I really don't know why, but suddenly I could control my cravings now. Of course, there are days that I just can't, but most of the time I can, now. Plus the fact that taking care of a nursing baby can be quite stressful at times, LOL.
I hope that I will be able to keep off the fat from returning ... :P

Wanted to eat the chili that hubby bought one weekend, and since I was too tired to cook it the way he does (stuffs them with meat and cheese and wraps them in lumpia wrapper), I decided to just take out the seeds (so that it wouldn't be too hot), sliced them, and then added them to ground pork. I also added the cheese after everything was cooked. Lazy me; tasted more or less the same. I still got the "hot stuff" I was looking for at that time. lol.
The food shot underneath the chili was for our son since we thought that he might find the above dish a tad too hot ... just steaming rice, ground pork, tomatoes, and cheese. :)

My snack a few days ago. Yup, decided to play with it for a bit ... that's why the ice cream melted. ;P
The first time I saw hubby's Corporate usb drive I was impressed; not because of it's looks (it looked pretty common; not shaped like a sushi or anything, lol) but because the company cared enough to give their employees something that was a bit expensive at that time (I believe that flash drives are getting to be less expensive these days, and with higher capacity, too!).
Till now hubby still has that flash drive; and our youngest son sometimes uses it ... for playing. But it is still functional! :)

I must admit ... I don't like sleeping too long, because of my back. I like our current mattress now, which is neither too soft, or too hard. But of course if you stay too long on one spot you will get that characteristic "dent", lol. That's why I don't like staying on the bed for too long ... or maybe we should just change our bed, huh?! Our bed in the province doesn't have mattresses; they are made from wood and a certain type of strong "weed". It is durable, as long as it doesn't get wet often. Why, my childhood bed is still around up to now!!! I think it's pretty cool. :P
We all know how important it is to have a sink (in working order, of course!) in a house; that's why when my father decided to have a new house built for us here in the city we went looking for the one that we wanted and which fitted our budget. We found some awesome copper kitchen sinks, as well as some of the more "common" ones, built in aluminum. We decided to buy a double bowl aluminum sink; it fitted our budget nicely (but we were gearing towards those copper sinks...)! lol. We didn't regret our decision since until now (and that was around almost twenty years ago!!!) that sink is still being used and working perfectly. :)
Had this for dinner ... fried milkfish (bangus) which was marinated in vinegar, black pepper, salt, and lots of garlic. Didn't get the chance to take a shot of the side dish, tomato and red onion mixed with just a wee bit of salt; was too hungry. lol. And of course ... everything went so well with lots of steaming rice! :P

They say that if you want your site to have a "presence" it must be readily visible when you search for it on the internet. If you want lots of traffic on your site, then one way to do that would be to submit your link to one of those web directories. Some are free, while for others there is a fee to have your link placed on their site. Personally, I think that's great, though visiting other sites and leaving comments would also be one way to get yourself noticed. You must be sincere about your comments, though, or else it will look like you're spamming them! :)
Plain ... or not? I chose both! LOL :D

Been real busy these past few days ... so busy that I still haven't had the chance to dabble with my other blog! :(
I got my laptop last year when I found the need to have a computer because of my online activities. Not just any computer, but one that is lightweight and mobile enough for me. Well, the one that I bought is not that lightweight (compared to the netbooks being offered for sale these days), but comfortable enough. I was deciding whether to get myself one of those netbooks (it was still quite new at that time), or the 13"-15" sized computers; but since I deal mostly with pictures, I wanted one with a bigger monitor. Still, after buying my computer it just wasn't enough, lol. I mean, I longed for a mouse (which my ten-year old son got me just a couple of weeks back ... so sweet of him!). Next, I wanted buy a new printer because the one that we had was already defective (it wouldn't print in black, could you believe that!). Well, it was almost a decade old, so I guess it was about time we upgraded our printer. We did buy a new one last month, though. It's a good thing that my computer's speakers are already sufficient (the multimedia features helped me with my decision ...) or else I would have longed for a pair, too! LOL
I know, the only thing missing would be a new keyboard, but if you have a laptop (or a netbook) you really won't be needing new one. Would you? :)

My sister works at a government-run office and they deal mostly with benefits. I know, sometimes it can be hard work since some people want more than they are entitled to with their disability appeal, so my sister and her office mates needs to be aware about those "fixers" and trouble-makers most of the time. If they do catch one they let them off with just a warning, at first. But if caught repeatedly, well ... they are banned from the office! Serves them right, huh?!
Am mighty glad that I don't work in such an environment! LOL

Summer vacation for us has been over for some months now, but do you know that Christmas vacation is getting nearer? Or haven't you noticed it? lol. I have, since I am pretty excited about this coming Christmas ... well, I am normally excited when Christmas comes; I just love the chilly air and that certain "feeling" one gets when Christmas is drawing near ... like a kid about to open a present! Nope, am not expecting anything for myself (I must be getting old, lol), though one of those nice orlando vacations could help! :D

May 18, 2011 UPDATE:
added a linky to the posts a couple of weeks back because 'you' asked for it. :)
i hope everyone's satisfied...if not, send me a shout-out. :D
July 22, 2011 UPDATE:
...used InLinkz for linking a couple of weeks ago, and loving it! :)
...decided to send some linky love to the players using InLinkz random pick and will be placing the 'weekly winner(s)' on the sidebar, where it will stay for a month. Will also create a page on the linkbar for the past and present winners. :)
...still in the process of ironing out any kinks, so suggestions are welcome.
Anyone is welcome to play along ... we only have three rules (unless I modify this again. lol):
- *Post must be about food (using your own shot is preferred, but if you use another photo, then it must be with the photo-owner's consent)
- *Link back here, using the buttons provided, or a simple text link.
- *Have fun posting and visiting other players! ♥
IMPORTANT: Please don't leave your post links here ... leave your links on the latest Food Friday post (which will be up every Friday at 12:01 AM {GMT +8 hours}). That way your link will be visible not only to me but also to the other players.
Many thanks!
