Paper Quilling

This is called paper quilling ... according to Wiki:
Quilling or Paper Filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs.

Because of this week's theme, I remembered this paper filigree that I made!
I made this last year ... sad to say, I didn't get to make another one!
will try starting with this hobby again. :)

Trip to the Cybershop

Our current pc (personal computer) is now almost five years old, and it has had it's share of crashes and upgrades. Hubby's already on to his second laptop but our trusted pc's still around. Nope, our computer isn't slow; in fact, when we bought this almost five years ago, it had the top of the line hardware components that we could find that time. We didn't want to change to a new one the next year, or the year after that. So we didn't. Quite convenient, actually. Most of the upgrading we have been doing are the softwares only. Economical, too!

My sister's trying to find a pc of her own, so I mentioned these great pc deals over at Dell. Their computers are reasonably priced and quality's really good. I adviced her to get the one with the latest hardware components that she can afford so that she need not upgrade a year (or two) from now. She agrees with the idea, so tomorrow we will be off to our local cybershop and see which models are available. Buying online is possible, too. Just call 08703 533 424; so easy! But I just love visiting our favorite cybershops ... I hope I can restrain myself and not get hooked on anything! :D

Pancit Bihon

I have always loved eating pancit bihon ...
that's why I thought of putting a recipe here. My technique's slightly different (for one, I seldom use chicken stock ... or chicken; usually I use ground pork. Not because of the taste, really; but for the availability. I just love putting in lots of freshly ground black pepper, celery, and whatever vegetable's available that day!)

Pancit Bihon Recipe

Estimated cooking & preparation time: 45 minutes

Pancit Bihon Ingredients:

  • 1 8 oz. pack pancit bihon noodles

  • 1 cooked chicken breast, shredded

  • 2 cups of chicken broth or 2 chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in 2 cups of water

  • 1/4 cabbage, sliced into strips

  • 1 onion

  • 1/3 cup scallions, cut into pieces

  • 1 carrot, sliced into strips

  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil

  • 3/4 cup diced celery

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 5 pieces of calamansi or 1 lemon, sliced

Pancit Bihon Cooking Instructions:

  • Grease with oil a large pan or wok. Sauté garlic and onions.

  • Wet the pansit bihon noodles to soften

  • Add the chicken broth, the shredded chicken breast and all the vegetables until cooked.

  • Mix in the pansit bihon noodles and add the soy sauce, cook for about 5 minutes or until the noodles are soft.

  • Salt and pepper to taste.

  • Serve hot with sliced calamansi on the side.

Cooking Notes:

  • Calamansi or lemon is to be squeezed into the pansit bihon before eating.

Have you ever thought of managing your own business? If you have, then you must have had questions like these: What type of business? Any associates? Where your office is going to be? What will be your brand name? These are only some of the questions that will crop up, and need to be answered, before you actually start your business.

To ensure that your business takes off, it is important that you believe in your products and that you know you can deliver whatever it is that you promise your clients. But there's also another factor that might not be so obvious for other business owners - the product branding.

Christmas is coming ...

Oh my, it's already September, and three months more it's going to be the height of the Christmas season! I am excited about the approaching season, but a bit stumped on what to give to family and friends. I will be asking my son (yup, I love his out-of-this-world ideas!) and hubby (practical ones, though sometimes too heavy/expensive for my budget!) for some fun and practical christmas gift ideas.

What I won't be enjoying much will be the crowd at the malls during this special occasion. I guess to avoid the rush all I have to do is make sure I finish my Christmas gift-buying before everyone else; and that means I have to start now! :)

Remembered Some Friends ...

The other weekend when we went to the mall we passed by some trophies on display, and they were for sale. I was really quite taken with the trophies there since the workmanship was really good and it felt sturdy enough (I couldn't help but hold some of them). Nope, I'm not on the lookout really, for trophies. I just remembered an online photographer friend who enjoys playing golf and I know he and his team won some trophies a couple of months ago.

It has been months since I've chatted with them, I wonder how they're doing now ... will check them out and see if they're online; it'd be great catching up with them again! :)

Found this poem at a site for kids ... I think this is really wonderful. I love the hopeful and encouraging tone it seems to send out; for all of us kids out there. :)
I'm not sure, but when I first read this I thought of Christmas! Oh my ... maybe it's because Christmas is getting nearer ... I'm not yet ready for the gift-buying and stuffs (i honestly hate the Christmas buying frenzy; too many buyers! but i guess that's good for business, huh?! good for the economy, so I shouldn't really complain... should I?!)

... but I'm so ready for the food! lol. :D
