halohalo

Not only for summer, really. All year round! lol

That's halo-halo ... a mixture of anything and everything including two scoops of ice cream! :)

*halo-halo literally means 'mixture', so I think that there's no limit to what you want your halo-halo to be ... but mostly it has leche flan, langka (jackfruit), sweetened ube (purple yam), pinipig (pounded dried rice), sweetened kidney beans, sweetened plantain (banana), sweetened red mungo, crushed ice and evaporated milk. Obviously, this is a sweet treat! :)

House ...

It has been ages since I've been inside a movie theater! Nope, I don't actually miss it much (except maybe on two or three occasions, lol) but if only it's possible we'd have one of those home theater seating that's now available both online and offline. But our house is quite cramped right now (too many junk stacked away; here and there) so I guess that's impossible.

Hubby and I actually talked one time (while we were driving late one night) about getting a house in one of those subdivisions located outside the city.

Just us, dreaming. And hoping that our plans will all come true someday. Before we get too old to enjoy it! :P

Interesting shoe design ... mbt

0 shared thoughts
When it comes to shoes ... well, all I am interested in is the comfort. Of course, the design has to agree with me, too, and that's what made me look twice at those mbt (Masai Barefoot Technology) shoes. Honestly, I think it looked weird and ungainly. But after stumbling about it online, I read that it can actually give you health benefits. Now that is pretty interesting!

I am concerned about the height of the shoes, though. But I guess that that goes with the design; says it actually helps relieve back pain! The next time I go to the mall I'll check them out. Really.

Won't go back ...

I must admit, I do equate the condition of a company's office furniture to how they treat their employees. Does that sound weird? lol. I think it does, but somehow I believe that the way the employees are treated can be likened to how the furnitures in the office are being treated. I mean, if the company cares about their furniture (regular maintenance), then how much more for their employees, right? But of course, I'm not 100% correct all the time. Sometimes I'm right; sometimes I'm wrong. :D

Besides, I haven't really worked long in any company. Longest I've stayed was around two years. I think. Can't say I'd love to go back working for somebody else (... besides myself). lol. :)

chocolate heaven

I know, it looks messy. lol. Hubby surprised us with this cake a few days ago. (Or has it been weeks already??!)
If you love chocolates, then you are sure to love this cake! It is made of chocolate...all the way! No wonder, it's called chocolate heaven (by red ribbon). :)

I wonder if one of these guys (and gals) take whey protein powder as a food supplement; some of them were really quite serious with this exercise... Took this shot one morning while we were cruising at the university belt. With my one year old on my lap and also fiddling with the camera. lol. Good thing I wasn't the one driving!

I just love manipulating my shots ... and thanks to photoshop and some digiscrapping materials, I can make my shots look weird. hahaha. I just wish I have more time for this, though ... well, maybe I will. One of these days. :)

Staying healthy...

Some people are a firm believer of multivitamins; and I am one of them. Well, I don't actually practice what I preach (since sometimes I forget to take my vitamins myself, lol), but I always make sure that my kids take theirs everyday. Nothing complicated; just a daily dose of vitamin C and a multivitamin. I believe that it does help us strengthen our immune system, and even help us save money from buying all those expensive medical treatments.

But it's your choice ... :)

Most (if not all) of us are concerned with how people see us, and that includes our looks. We want to look presentable and neat. Well, I know that I do! lol. For some, looking good includes making frequent trips to the hair salon, too. That's why if something happens to our 'crowning glory' we get alarmed. It's just so happens that hair loss for men is more common, and that's why there seems to be more advertisements for males than for females. I'm no expert, but I think that some treatments could also apply to women (like the hair transplant).

I just hope that I won't be needing that treatment anytime soon .... :)

Thinking out loud ...

While I was studying in college, we dealt with lots of subjects regarding medicines (we did have pharmacology as a subject), but not so much with testosterone creams. Or I could be mistaken. But I guess that's because animals were rarely treated with hormonal replacements, like humans. Unless, maybe if you are dealing with breeders. Then that's when hormonal treatments are necessary. Still, not as extensive as humans, I suppose. Animals normally breed faster than humans, but there are exceptions, of course. :)

Just rambling. :))

It has been unbearably hot for the past few days and nights, that my sister's idea to serve this one night was just perfect! It was fairly easy and fast to make ... she just mixed the following ingredients:

thinly sliced carrots (blanched)
diced ripe mangoes
thinly sliced cucumber
diced cheddar cheese
slithers of crab meat (one pack of those Japanese kani packs)
all purpose cream
cooked spaghetti noodles
salt and white pepper to taste
wasabi paste (optional)

... mix everything and that's it! light and refreshing. :)

ps. i didn't write the exact measurements because i forgot to ask her. lol
this dish reminded me of the kani salad my family and i used to order over at Kimono Ken (love the great food and the equally great prices, lol) ... :)

Photo solutions ...

I would love to learn more about the different photo solutions available right now, but I just don't have the time. Well, unless I allocate the time I do with other stuffs to just take pictures and do some post processing! lol. Would never happen.

But anyway, an fb friend suggested I try out Lightroom, from Adobe. [They are also the same company that sells Photoshop, my fave photo processing tool at the moment.] :)

I just loved the way she processed her shots (specially the vintage-like effects) i asked what she uses and she said that she uses Lightroom for most of her shots. I downloaded the trial version (and found out that it's going to end this month! aaarrrggghhh) and did a bit of practicing earlier today.

Here's the result.

Puny. I know. I need more practice.... :D

Busy summer

My younger sister's busy now having our house in the province renovated. Our parents are pretty excited about it and have even helped with the planning; they wanted to bring back the 'old house'. Through the years the house has somehow been 'forgotten'; everyone was so busy with their lives and my parents had projects of their own. But now that they finally have the time (and the resources), they want to restore the house to it's former glory, so to speak. Am not sure if my sister will be getting a Grohe faucet, but I do know that last weekend they shopped around for some construction materials.

Busy, busy, busy ... that's what they will be! :)

Realistic

I know, most of us would love to know the best acne treatment; but it just eludes some of us. lol. I do still get pimples every now and then, but not as much as before. These days I know I get pimples when I get lazy and don't wash my face, or I eat too much fatty foods (they do taste yummier; well, for me anyway). Sometimes it's hormonal, too. But still, it would be great if we just apply something on our face and voila! instant gratification!

But that is just not the case, so ... I should stay realistic. Clean my face. Eat less fatty foods. And be less crabby. ;P

Never again. I hope.

I'm not too sure, but I think I suffered arthritis-like symptoms years ago. I was given something similar to an arthritis pain treatment, but the doctors were really never sure what it was. The symptoms were sort of confusing for them but for me the pain was really unbearable! I mean, I could barely twist my wrist or go down a flight of stairs without somebody helping me. Somehow the symptoms just went away after a few days.

Weird. I hope I never experience that again!

lunch

This is what I usually get when we order at Chowking...that's their Tofu/Fish and Tausi meal. It does satisfy my craving for tofu, which happens every now and then. :)

*ps. so sorry for not being able to visit last week; my one year old got sick and taking care of him took up most of my time ... am sure glad he's fine now. :)
*tausi = fermented black beans
tofu = soybean curd

Getting fit

0 shared thoughts
We're not getting any younger, and so hubby and I are trying to live healthy lives. It isn't as easy as it sounds (since there are an amazing number of temptations out there! lol) and that's why we are thinking of getting a fitness equipment that fits not only our lifestyle but also our house and budget. Quite hard, since we both have different views on what equipment to get; I'd like something simple while he wants the whole shebang!

Nothing's definite yet, but we are trying to scout around for something that might interest us...together. :)

Facial problems ...

I can proudly say that I never had any skin problems while I was in high school, or in college. But I wish I can say that right now ... since after I gave birth my face started acting up! I have heard reviews about skin id, but haven't actually used it. Yet. There are conflicting reviews about the product, but I guess that's just because everyone of us is different and so would also react differently to the product (even if it does say that it is a 'personalized acne treatment').

But who knows? I just might try it, one of these days. ;P

In the beginning ...

I initially started blogging because I wanted to see how my shots looked like on screen. Yup, that's true, and there's no need to snicker. LOL. I didn't even know that there was such a thing as http://www.freedirectorysubmission.org, where you can get your site to be easily located by search engines. I didn't even know that blogs were even 'rated'! Silly me, huh?!

But that's all in the past now. Sure, I still have a lot to learn about blogging (and specially about taking pictures and the gears that goes with it); but am getting there. Slowly perhaps (specially after I gave birth to our second son), but surely getting there. :)
