Weekend Snapshot: Ant

Saw this type of ant again, while I was watering some plants. They are quite big and their mandibles can be quite intimidating. Some of the kids are actually quite scared of them because of their size. Wouldn't want to be bitten, of course, but I just love taking their picture. :)

Weekend Snapshot: Stray Cat (again)

Took this shot the other weekend ... was surprised when I saw the tongue! LOL. ;P
The cat seems to blend quite well with it's sorroundings, too ... and that's one of the stray cats that our neighbors feed, every once in a while.

Last weekend I had the chance to see this stray cat washing it's fur that saturday morning. I used to see lots of them around (even kittens) on top of one of our neighbor's roofs, but I guess some of them have moved away. Or maybe didn't make it.

They are considered as pests by some, but I guess our neighbors don't; since I've seen them feed these cats a couple of times already.

Weekend Snapshot: Blue Skies

It was really drizzling the whole day last Saturday, so seeing this blue sky on Sunday felt real nice. We stayed at home the whole day during Saturday, but on Sunday we went out. Not really just to eat out and have fun, but also to buy some groceries. Sunday is usually the day we get the time to buy those "necessities"! :)

Attended Holy Mass yesterday ... after the Mass, I decided to take a picture of their Nativity decor, and some people flocking towards a statue.

My WS post isn't really Christmassy today ...

took this shot this weekend, since I think the moon looked so clear and full. Haven't had the chance to go around at night much and see the Christmas decors, though ... maybe next time. :)

Weekend Snapshot: Toy Soldier

Passed by this building yesterday with one of it's cute (actually they were large; much taller than me! lol) toy soldier Christmas decorations. Was in the car and the first shot came out blurry; we went past the building again and hubby slowed down so that I can take a "proper" shot. ;P

I really like those buildings/establishments who take the time to decorate their place. Me, I must admit I am too lazy. Am not done with my Christmas decorations yet!

Went to the grocery yesterday...

... and funny, because just around a couple or so of days ago I was watching this show in the Lifestyle Network about the hottest chili around the world ...

and I found out that they are of this type: Habaneros!

Was thinking of buying it, but ... nah.

Maybe next time. When I'm braver! lol. ;)

Weekend Snapshot

This brown shrike (Lanius cristatus) was quite noisy the day I took this shot (Saturday) ... and that explains why it's beak is open like that.

I love watching out for this bird ... every now and then during the week while I'm sitting here in front of the computer I'd hear the bird get all "chatty". Sometimes I'm too slow with my camera, though. lol.

Yesterday's breakfast ... cooked them, but only managed to eat two pieces. I found it too sweet, but my son and hubby ate them all! lol. :)

Weekend Snapshot

Yesterday we went to the university ... it was a Sunday, so no classes. My niece just wanted to do some exercises. The university's a popular place for those who want to do some exercises, like jogging. Or if you just want to do some strolling. Or resting. Or ... you get the idea. lol.

I love it, too, since it's got lots of trees and plenty of space.

As for me, I didn't do any jogging; I was too lazy to bring along my running shoes.
What I did was just take some pictures, like the one above ... ;)

Weekend Snapshot

Yesterday we went on an out-of-town trip; we left the house early, around past five in the morning, so we decided to eat in one of the fast food joints located along the expressway.

I had coffee and these teeny hash browns; the small hash browns was an instant hit with my son! :)

Weekend Snapshot (#5)

Yesterday we went here (cemetery) to visit my FIL's resting place, as well as to make sure that the preparations for this coming November 1st (*All Soul's Day) are already starting.

Nope, it's not a big celebration, or anything. We just wanted to make sure that the place is cleaned before All Soul's Day.

We'll be back again, next week.


*All Soul's Day is actually on Nov 2, but we here in the Phils. normally honor the souls on Nov 1st (All Saint's Day).

Weekend Snapsnot (#4)

Yesterday after attending Holy Mass, I stood waiting for our car outside the church (Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish);
I looked up, and I noticed that the branches and leaves from a tree seemed to be framing this piece of art from the church's wall.
Couldn't resist ... just had to take a shot.

Did some sharpening, cropping, focal b&w, and soft focusing using picasa2, then with the text and border I used gimp. Both softwares are free downloads via the internet. :)

ps. noticed just a few minutes ago, while editing the shot using picasa2, that Jesus there looks kind of angry. lol. :)

Weekend Snapshot (#3)

Last cloudy weekend we woke up to a very noisy bird outside our window (actually, not directly outside our window); it seemed to be scolding someone!

Then I saw this shrike; it apparently seemed to be calling/warning another bird.
Maybe a sparrow; we have lots of those! This shrike is almost always around, but there are only a few of them here.

Rained mostly last weekend ... love it when it rains. Except when I'm doing the laundry. ;P

Took this shot when the rain stopped for a bit yesterday. I just like the way the drops seemed to be suspended and shaped like that ... :)
