on pleasing other people...

It is hard to please everybody. Sometimes you try pleasing them and that's great if they reciprocate the action, but if not, then do you think it's still worth pleasing them? For some, it might be, but for me...well, being trampled on (i know, it sounds so harsh) doesn't sound like a good way to spend my time. LOL

Think it's too much to ask if they can 'help' you in return, too?
