When I was small we almost always have malunggay in our table (around three times a week) and I guess that's why it's one of my favorite. So when I saw this malunggay pesto being sold at a 'weekend market' I just had to buy it (costs around Php200+).
My verdict? Well, I could be biased because I love pesto, but I know I'll buy another bottle again when we return. hehehe. It does have a slight bitterness to it, but I loved it just the same. :P

di ko talaga natutunan magustuhan ang malunggay. i also love pesto sauce pero basil na lang, wag na malunggay.:p
thanks, LM
oo nga, marami din akong kakilala that would rather eat other veggies. i guess it's an 'acquired' taste? :)
thanks for playing!
i also love malunggay! baon ko nga sa school noong elementary pa kami ay plain boiled malunggay. some rich classmates used to taunt us saying -- ulam ba yan ang malunggay. hehehe..at times they try to taste the soup (sabaw) and they can't say they like the taste or they don't.
since stayinjg away from home i missed the daily servings of malunggay if there is a supply. but i haven't seen nor heard about PESTO here.
oh there is also a malunggay campsule. i heard one of the boys told me that i should drink malunggay capsule because it will make you more healthy. =)
hehe, pareha pala tayo, Arlene! we both love malunggay. we used to have a plant at home, kaya halos araw-araw yun ung ulam namin (cooked in gata, or simply boiled, or mixed with other ingredients). i miss those days, too!
yup, i have heard of malunggay capsules also. in fact, i saw one in a 7 eleven store, kaso di ako bumili. next time, when i get the chance bibili talaga ako. hehehe.
thanks for playing! :)
Malunggay as Pesto, hmmm... have no idea how it taste, :D
Yes! That's one healthy meal, naintriga ako! I love malunggay with shrimp, what my mom particularly cooks!
@ lani:
if you like malunggay, then most probably you'd like this pesto, too. :)
@ G:
my mom loved malunggay with shrimp in gata...ooohhh, i miss home. lol.
thanks, lani and G! :)
I want to try!!!!
I bought toasted bread with malunggay. The taste is fine just that the bread was hard as a rock even if it's still good based on "expiration date" and it was sealed well. Hindi na muna ako bumili ulit. Gusto ko malunggay sa monggo. :)
I used to really hate malunggay, but, the past year, since I started eating healthy, I also began loving it. :)
This looks really delish. :)

I've read about malunggay pesto. I'd love to try it if it becomes available here as I love malunggay specially with sauteed monggo.
