Food Friday

bangus ala pobre

"Lunch is just a flip of a box top away" ... i like that. :)

This was the first time that we had something from Red Ribbon delivered; I had the dish above (Bangus Ala Pobre). Actually, there were three bangus belly (or should that be "belllies"?!) inside. But I only managed to eat two, together with the rice. It tasted yummy. :)

Of course, the other reason why we had food delivered was their cake! We tried their Choc-o-Nut roll ... and if you love peanuts, then you'd love this. Hubby and son aren't too fond of peanuts, so I ended up eating more than my share. LOL :D

Shaky hands ...

macro

One of the shots taken using the new macro lens ... my hands are shaky! i didn't use the tripod since i thought it wouldn't matter (boy, was i wrong! ugh).

Blame it all on the image stabilizer! lol. I took that feature for granted, but now i know. ;)

The newer macro lens has got an image stabilizer, while the one that i got doesn't. Budget, that's the reason. It is double the price (roughly around Php62T at the Canon store).

Oh well. That's ok. I love experimenting with it. So far. :D

After the lens ...

Every time we go to the mall we can't help but be bombarded by all the new things that's being sold on each store, and usually we can't help but drop by some of our fave gadget stores. lol.

Our old television (who's already more than a decade old) is still functioning (even if our youngest son plays with it a lot. and I do mean a lot) and doing fine, but has long since been outdated in terms of it's design. It takes up a lot of space, too. That's why we want to shift to one of those newer models, like the Samsung HDTV. Am not too sure, but I think they had a sale recently, and it was really tempting. We resisted, though, since I was bent on getting a new lens for the dslr that day... :)

But now that we have the lens ... well ... that's another story. :P

Food Friday

crab in sotanghon

Hubby came home bringing this dish one night...it's simply named Crab in Sotanghon (type of noodles which is also called cellophane noodles). He knew that my crab craving have been going on for weeks (LOL), hence he wanted me to try this dish. It was ok, except for the fact that the spices/seasonings being used kind of overpowered the crab taste.

Told him that next time we eat at the restaurant; maybe it'll taste better. ;P

Getting formal ...

I normally don't attend formal parties, so my wardrobe these days don't hold anything expensive (like a gown, or something similar). Nope, I don't have any 'little black dress' either, LOL. But hubby does attend such functions because of his job, so I suggested that he order one of those tuxedos we see being offered not only at the mall but also at a store relatively near us (they specialize in formal dresses). He does have the "Barong Tagalog", which is a necessity, and a few blazers. Still, I think it would be to his advantage if he gets a tuxedo, too.

"Will think about it," that's what he said. True 'manly' fashion. :)

Outside ...

I love going outdoors! Specially if I have my camera with me, but nowadays that's just not as 'possible' as before. I mean, sure we can still go outside whenever we want to, but we have to consider the needs of a one year old who wants to tag along, too. It would be great if we have this huge garden with safe outdoor furniture and a grill on the side, but that's not reality for me. LOL. What we have instead is this small garage when we do decide to go out of the house.

Well, there is a small garden with lots of interesting critters, and most of the time that's good enough for me. I prefer taking macro shots. :)

Convenient and Practical

Whenever we pass by one of those cyberzone shops in the mall, I can't help but take a glance at what I can see from the outside. Some stalls offer tutorials, some offer services like cad drawing, cellphone repair, laptop repairs, and the like. We have been going there lately most weekends since hubby wants to buy a headset for his phone. He wants to have his hands free while he's on the phone (specially when he needs to take down notes), that's why having a wireless headset is convenient and practical.

I just think that it makes someone look funny talking and walking alone, and without the phone being seen, though. ;P

Anything is possible ...

Last weekend when we traveled with hubby to the province I was mildly surprised to see an RV. Just 'mildly surprised' since we normally don't see them around here, but not that totally surprised, since these days anything is just possible. Specially with technology growing so fast. Still, I asked hubby about it and he said that it might be hard to get an extended service plan for an RV around here. That's because it wasn't made here (it was imported) and some of the mechanics might 'break' it instead of fixing it, if ever it needs fixing.

Nope, I don't plan to get one in the near future (no space for one in our garage), but who knows, huh?! Like I said, anything is possible these days. :D

Stay safe

We all know that when we work, it is important to be safe at all times. Not only will that save us money (from hospital expenses, and such), but it will also help us work confidently, knowing that we won't be harmed. Some safety products to consider are hard hats, and safety goggles. Of course, it depends on every situation, but we must all be aware and be on top of the situation if ever we want to continue working safely. It could even be something as simple as that 'thingy' for your electric sockets, just in case your toddler decides to play with them!

Food Friday

linguini in pesto

This was what I had when we ate at Conti's (at Solenad in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna) while on our way to my MIL's house. That's their Linguini in Pesto Sauce; you can also have that with seafood (I chose not to order mine with seafood). It tasted great, specially after I added more parmesan cheese. I wish they'd add more per serving, though.. LOL. :)

angel hair puttanesca

While this was what hubby ordered, their Angel Hair Puttanesca. Hubby gave this a thumbs up. :D

Interesting ...

One of my nephew is going to have a birthday soon, and since he likes playing basketball (the last time I saw him he said that he was still into playing basketball) I have been thinking of checking out this site that sells personalized basketballs. I wonder if they have something for my nephew, or do I have to bring in my design. Still, I love their concept.

Anyway, will check it out in a bit because for now I am trying out this software that a photographer friend mentioned. He posted some shots on his site and I really liked the results. Below is a shot that I took last month of a church in Amadeo, Cavite (Philippines), using the software.

Vacation ...

I wonder when my family and I will have a chance to go abroad on a vacation. Hubby has been in and out of the country many times but our sons and I haven't had the privilege yet. I wonder where we will be going, if indeed we were given a chance to go; maybe a vacation in Orlando, USA, or somewhere in vibrant Paris, or somewhere nearer to home, like Japan.

There are many places I would love to visit with my family, but somehow I don't think I'd enjoy it much yet, at this time. That's because our youngest son is still a year old and I don't think he'd enjoy going places and being rushed all the time.

But who knows, huh? Am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. :)

Then, and now ...

Whenever I get interested into something I want to learn more about it, and so in the 'olden days' when internet connection was only for the privileged few (lol) my sister and I would go to the library or to our favorite hang-out, the bookstore. Nope, we wouldn't buy the book, but would read the book in the store! Yup, we used to have lots of time on our hands before. Those were the days ...

But now that internet is so wide-spread (it is still unheard of in some parts of the country, though), I can just learn about it online, or if I really want the book, then I search through Amazon books. Hubby did that one time and his book arrived within seven days, which was pretty amazing. :)

Just thinking ...

Have you ever heard of an 'oxygen bar'? Well, I have heard of it (seems to have started as a fad some time ago), but have never actually seen one in person. I know oxygen is good for us all, so I guess that it was just a matter of time before somebody would find a way to "sell" it! Interesting, huh? ;)

The amazing thing is that somebody has found a way to make those portable oxygen concentrator so that people who need a higher amount of oxygen (like some patients with respiratory diseases) can avail of this treatment even if they are not in a hospital. This would certainly be a lifesaver for some, not just a recreational thing.

Blogging

After my other blog got hacked I was thinking of hiring someone to take care of it for me; I hesitated, though, since I had so little time now for blogging that I wasn't sure if it was worth the additional expenses that my site would incur. I wonder if that would fall under the "managed IT services" category. I really am a noob when it comes to managing my other blog. LOL. Yup, a noob, and not a newbie (I have been blogging for quite some time now).

Anyway, I have totally lost all hope in restoring that site back to it's original state. No time to do it myself, plus I have no inkling what to do first! I wonder if anybody would want to use it for themselves, huh? NO PORN or political stuffs, please. :)

Rest, rest, rest ...

Last weekend when we went to the mall I suddenly felt weak and slightly dizzy. That got me worried since I was holding my toddler and I certainly wouldn't want to fall on my feet! I was hoping that it was because I only had four hours of sleep the night before and my body was terribly tired. Taking care of a very active (and sometimes stubborn!) one year old can drain one's energy, I tell you. LOL.

That's why now I never forget to take my vitamins, and I try to sleep before midnight. I know, I should be sleeping when my son sleeps, but that's just not possible most of the time. But I will keep trying ... my sons are still dependent on me. :)
